Hiroshima for Global Peace

A story of a girl who survived an atomic bomb2

※3 We were troubled by lice and bedbugs. They laid eggs densely on our underwear

seams. White eggs were easily distinguishable on black underwear.

※4 Just after a week, a man asked me out to take a photograph. Being asked out like

this was the first time for me. Man and woman going out together during war time was

something unthinkable. To the warden, I only mentioned that I was going out.

※5 At the photo studio, we were asked if we were siblings. I just tilted my head down

from awkwardness, but he answered, “ Yes, she’s my younger sister. We came here to

take a photo just for a memory.” That surprised me how he easily he lied.
