Overview of the Hiroshima Organization for Global Peace (HOPe) (General Incorporated Association)
Purpose
The purpose of this organization is to contribute to the realization of a world without Nuclear Weapons by building networks with various stakeholders, contributing to global peace and development, and promoting local self-governance, economy, and education.
Business Activities
- Research and study projects contributing to the abolition of nuclear weapons and the realization of global peace
- Research and study projects on creating new policies for sustainable development
- Human resource development, education, and awareness projects contributing to the abolition of nuclear weapons and the realization of global peace
- Information dissemination projects aimed at expanding supporters and promoting action toward the abolition of nuclear weapons
- Projects for forming communities that act proactively toward solving peace issues
- Projects for accumulating peace-related resources
- Holding of conferences and policy proposal projects related to the preceding items
- Promotion projects for local self-governance, economy, and education related to the preceding items
- Other projects necessary to achieve the purpose of this organization

- Established the "Hiroshima International Peace building Network" with the aim of building networks with UN organizations and others.
2003
- May 28, 2003
- Reorganized the "Hiroshima International Peace building Network" into the "Hiroshima Peace Contribution Network" to support the activities of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Hiroshima Office.
- July 15, 2003
- United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Hiroshima Office opened.
2005 - 2020
- November 2005 – March 2020
- Provided reconstruction support in the education and health sectors in Cambodia, utilizing JICA Grassroots Technical Cooperation Projects, as support for sustainable peacebuilding.

- November 4, 2011
- Announced the "Hiroshima for Global Peace" Plan.

- Reorganized the "Hiroshima Peace Contribution Network" into the "Hiroshima Peace Promotion Network."

- Expansion of operations through the implementation of project marking 75 years since the atomic bombings and the end of the war.

- The "Hiroshima Peace Promotion Network" was reorganized and the "Hiroshima Organization for Global Peace (HOPe)" was launched.
