[8 pm EDT; Oct 9, 9 AM JST]

  • language: English
  • format: Online (zoom)
  • Speaker: Featuring Ms. Mary  Popeo, Co-Founder of Peace Culture Village (PCV) in Hiroshima. A Boston native now residing in Hiroshima, Ms. Popeo leads guided, virtual tours of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and surrounding areas, introducing visitors to the devastating  humanitarian impacts of the atomic bombing, as well as helping preserve the stories of Hibakusha (atomic bombing survivors). Utilizing immersive technology, such as augmented reality, Ms. Popeo collaborated with international partners to create an app to bring to life the stories of Hibakusha and help facilitate a more intimate connection to the past, building the empathy that is so vital in peace and disarmament activities.
