Visit to the House of the Wannsee Conference

On Thursday, November 30, 2023, the program participants visited the House of the Wannsee Conference. This was the venue of the Wannsee Conference, where 15 high-ranking German officials met on January 20, 1942 and decided on the Holocaust plan. Currently, the facility serves as a museum for visitors to learn about the history of the persecution of Jews in Europe and the circumstances that led to the Holocaust plan.

The participants viewed exhibits about the high-ranking officials who had participated in the conference, materials related to the conference, and the history of discrimination against Jews. Through the museum tour, the participants learned about the historical fact that the precious lives of approximately 6 million people were lost due to unjustified discrimination and the fact that there was a tendency of persecution not only in Germany but throughout Europe. The participants seemed to have realized that war and social confusion spur people to engage in discrimination and have prejudice against those that they consider to be different from themselves, consequently generating many victims.
