Hiroshima Day by Swapnadal

Introduction

‘Swapnadal (Dreamteam), one of the leading theatre organizations of Bangladesh, has been observing the ‘Hiroshima Day’ regularly since 2002 with due respect and formalities. The programme included the performance of Hiroshima-Nagasaki tragedy based anti-war, anti nuclear-weapons theatre production ‘Tringsha Shatabdee’ (The Thirtieth Century), Photography-Poster-Video-Installation Art exhibition, Candle lighting,  Anti-war speech, Making of 1000 paper-cranes-distribution-prayer in the memory of Sadako Sasaki etc. As far as Swapnadal knows, Swapnadal is the only theatre troupe in the globe which is observing the ‘Hiroshima Day’ regularly, however, devoted to the anti-war and anti-atomic issues. Swapnadal is the pioneer for observing the ‘Hiroshima Day’ formally in Bangladesh. It may be mentioned that Swapnadal performed this theatre production ‘Tringsha Shatabdee’ in Japan (Festival/Tokyo 2018), UK (A Season of Bangla Drama 2015), India (Bharat Ranag Mahotsav 2015 and also in a good number of theatre festivals) to disseminate the Hiroshima-Nagasaki and anti-nuclear weapons consciousness.
