While Germany has proactively engaged in nuclear disarmament, it was against, or abstained, in the votes on the other UNGA Resolutions related to the humanitarian dimensions as well as legal prohibition of nuclear weapons. It has not signed the TPNW. Along with the other U.S. allies, Germany advocates the “progressive approach” toward a world without nuclear weapons, through incremental, practical measures. Germany is hosting U.S. non-strategic nuclear weapons as part of NATO’s nuclear sharing policy. Germany participated in the IPNDV. It submitted a national report to the 2019 NPT PrepCom. |
