Message from Mohamed ElBaradei (the former Director General of IAEA)
After 75 years the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on 6 August 1945 still stands out as a low point in human history and a dark blot on our collective conscience; a stark reminder of the intrinsically inhumane and devastating nature of nuclear weapons. As we are fast approaching the hundredth anniversary of this unconscionable act Hiroshima should continue to be a champion of peace, a beacon of hope and a trailblazer in our efforts to create a just and humane world where nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction have no place .
