Sweden proposed the “stepping stone approach,” and hosted a meeting attended by 16 NNWS. Sweden participated in the negotiation conference on the TPNW, at which it voted in favor of adopting the treaty. However, it decided not to sign it for the time being. It has actively advocated promotion of nuclear disarmament. It has engaged in promoting the CTBT’s entry into force, and developing its verification systems. Sweden participated in the IPNDV. It has also proactively engaged in cooperation with civil society. |
