Kazakhstan is a state party to the Central Asia Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone Treaty. It has acceded to the IAEA Additional Protocol, and has applied the integrated safeguards. The IAEA LEU Fuel Bank established in Kazakhstan became operational in 2017, and received the LEU shipment. |

Kazakhstan has ratified all conventions relevant to nuclear security and has introduced recommended measures of INFCIRC/225/Rev.5, as well as being involved in multilateral efforts such as preventing illicit transfers and nuclear forensics activities. It completed the removal of all unirradiated HEU in 2020 and announced its efforts to further minimize the use of HEU. |
