The UAE started operating its first nuclear power plant in August 2020. It has ratified all conventions relevant to nuclear security. The UAE has adopted an integrated approach which addresses nuclear security, safety and safeguards, as well as interface between safety and security. The UAE has developed national legislative and regulatory framework and adopted a series of measures to ensure the full implementation of relevant conventions. It has also been working on the prevention of illicit trafficking. |
