Panel Exhibition and Interaction Event at Polytechnic University of Milan
From Monday, December 4 to Tuesday, December 5, 2023, the program participants held a panel exhibition regarding the reality of the atomic bombing, the G7 Hiroshima Summit, and the present issue of nuclear weapons at Polytechnic University of Milan. They also enabled the reality of the atomic bombing to be experienced using VR contents.
As was the case with the panel exhibition held at Humboldt University, Germany, the participants actively talked to local students and other visitors and explained exhibits. This panel exhibition drew approximately 1,000 people, far exceeding the number of visitors to the event held in Germany. In addition, the event was visited by Consul General Kobayashi of the Consulate-General of Japan in Milan. The event enabled the program participants to communicate to many young people the horror of the atomic bombing and the necessity of abolishing nuclear weapons.
After the panel exhibition held on Tuesday, December 5, the participants engaged in dialogue with students from Polytechnic University of Milan. At the dialogue event, Prof. Auricchio of the university gave an explanation on the peace initiative Design Against War, launched at the university after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
In the discussion following the presentation, the program participants and students of the university exchanged opinions and had a Q&A session about Japan’s constitutional revision and the domestic politics of their respective countries.
