Hiroshima for Global Peace

Future Leaders' Program 2019-OctoberFuture Leaders’ Program for Global Peace 2019 Report (October 6) Vol.2

Date: October 6, 2019

Lecture Name: International Cooperation

Lecturer: MISUMI Sachiko, Director General of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Chugoku Center

The report written by participants (High school students in Hiroshima) is posted without editing.

The lecture was given by Ms. Misumi from JICA. She told the importance of international assistance to us, and how it can only benefit the developing countries but also Japan as well. Through the workshop within the lecture, she made us realize that there are many factors to consider when giving an international assistance to a certain region. From her lecture overall, I was able to learn how we must not change the means with the purpose, which can sometimes be hard.

Japan has the duty to support other developing countries in various aspects. It seems as if Japan has no connection between those countries that require help but helping them can actually benefit Japan too. It’s not just about having benefits or not but it is our duty to help the others who need help.
