Switzerland participated in the negotiation conference on the TPNW, at which it voted in favor of adopting the treaty. However, it announced that it would postpone a decision on signing the TPNW until 2020. It has actively advocated promotion of nuclear disarmament. It has engaged in promoting the CTBT’s entry into force, and developing its verification systems. It has also taken a proactive attitude regarding cooperation with civil society. Switzerland participates in the IPNDV. It enacted national laws which restrict financing for nuclear weapons production. |
