Turkey has ratified all conventions relevant to nuclear security except the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management. Turkey announced that it expects hosting an IPPAS mission in the near future. It is working on implementing recommended measures of INFCIRC/225/Rev.5, including upgrading national legislative framework. Turkey is also cooperating in nuclear forensics activities in addition to preventing illicit trafficking. Turkey completed the removal of HEU from the country in 2009. |
