Initiative details
We are a commercial food manufacturer that has been in business for 107 years, mainly producing prepared foods and tsukudani (preserved food simmered in soy sauce).
The strengths of our company are preservation techniques backed by more than 100 years of experience in making preserved foods, development capabilities that allow the production of prepared foods that can be easily chewed by the elderly, and an attitude toward employees, suppliers, and customers based on our corporate philosophy of “strength, kindness and fun.” By drawing on these strengths, we aim to achieve the objectives and targets set out in the SDGs.
First of all, we possess the preservation techniques that allow foods to keep for extended periods of time, enabling us to achieve a much longer shelf life than other companies while maintaining excellent flavor. This is helping to reduce food loss, and we believe that by expanding these techniques, we can further contribute to the goals of SDGs 2 “Zero Hunger” and 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production.”
We also offer a product line called Omoiyari Domoto Bin. These products are designed to encourage people to eat orally to extend their healthy life expectancy, and we are proud to be contributing to the extension of healthy life expectancy of the elderly in Japan. In the future, as population aging affects countries other than Japan, we would like to propose diets for the elderly that are suitable for those countries. We believe that in the future, these activities will help achieve SDG 3 “Good Health and Well-being” not only in Japan but also overseas. Our policy is to enhance our competitive edge by responding to changes in the world.
Furthermore, in line with our corporate philosophy of “kindness,” our employees have personally visited the areas both in Japan and overseas, where the agricultural and marine produce we use is grown, ensuring that we only purchase products that we have confirmed with our own eyes to be safe and secure. By purchasing these products at a fair price, we build relationships of trust that allow us to grow together with our suppliers. This attitude is the very basis of our cooperation with domestic and international partners. We believe that this allows us to contribute to economic growth and achieve our goals, so we will continue to maintain this approach going forward.
Through these efforts, we believe we can achieve the five targets we have identified.
