The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were set out at the United Nations Summit in 2015 to build a sustainable future in which no one is left behind. The SDGs are now being pursued in earnest around the world, with the goal of achieving them by 2030. In order to meet the SDGs, people in all countries, both developed and developing, are being called upon to work in partnership. In response, interest in the SDGs has been growing in Hiroshima too.
This Hiroshima Prefecture SDGs Business Community Project has been held three times since fiscal year 2018, enlisting the cooperation of university students in conducting interviews. The project is based on a collection of case studies on specific SDGs initiatives and is intended to introduce on the website the initiatives of local companies that are actively working on the SDGs from two perspectives: that of young people and the companies themselves. In doing so, it aims to raise awareness of the SDGs and to promote and strengthen SDGs business.
We hope that this initiative will encourage many people in and outside of Hiroshima Prefecture to take an interest in the SDGs and take action to achieve them.
